The Community Foundation Ireland is currently accepting applications for the Meenadreen Scholarship Fund to empower local students by reducing the financial barriers to higher education and by supporting education which contributes to a sustainable future.
The Meenadreen Scholarship Fund provides a contribution toward tuition fees and modest living expenses, for College or University students of sustainability-related courses living within 14km of Meenadreen Windfarm in south Donegal.
Funding Information
- The Energia Meenadreen Scholarship Fund will fund:
- The registration fees for undergraduate courses in all Republic of Ireland public universities up to a maximum of €3,000 per annum.
- The sterling equivalent of up to €3,000 per annum for all undergraduate courses taking place in Northern Ireland.
- Stipend of up to €500 per annum to cover travel/ living expenses for selected applicants.
- Registration fees for postgraduate courses (Masters or PhD) on the island of Ireland. Postgraduate courses may be considered for partial or full funding.
Ineligible Funding
- The Energia Meenadreen Scholarship Fund will not fund:
- Past years of study
- Repeat years of study
- Private/ professional/ short-term training courses.
- Private training providers (excluding private universities).
- Second undergraduate degrees.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible applicants must:
- Be either currently enrolled or planning to start an undergraduate or postgraduate course in a college or university on the island of Ireland in September/October 2024.
- Be currently enrolled or planning to start a sustainability-related course (delivered in person or online).
- Be living within 14km of the Meenadreen Windfarm, with preference given to those living within 10km of the Windfarm.
- Be willing to engage with PR or media promotions to highlight the benefit of the fund (e.g., photograph, name and details of course with quote for case study).
