If you’re a displaced woman scientist in Türkiye seeking to reignite your academic journey and make a lasting impact in your field, Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) WISDOM is here to support you every step of the way, Generous scholarships for Masters programmes in STEM are available to support you for up to 24 months study at Istanbul Aydin University.
In the face of ongoing conflicts, violence, human rights violations, and climate change, a significant number of women scientists are forced to leave from their homes and countries. Many of them are not able to resume their studies after experiencing displacement.
The Women in Science Displacement Outreach Master’s Program (OWSD WISDOM) is a new initiative addressing the challenges these women encounter.
The 2024 OWSD WISDOM fully funded Master’s scholarships are offered to women refugee students pursuing master’s degrees in the natural, engineering, information, and technology sciences.
Aims
- Promoting equitable and sustainable inclusion in national education systems for women who are refugees or asylum seekers with a human rights-based approach in mind.
- Foster safe enabling environments that support learning by working with host institutes on protection and gender transformative awareness raising.
- Enable displaced women to use their education toward sustainable futures.
Costs Covered
- The Scholarship covers:
- M.Sc. tuition fees
- Living allowance
- Personal allowance
- Residence/visa documentation
- Medical insurance
- Travel
- Capacity building programme for the selected institutes
- Network Building
- Termination allowance
Eligibility Criteria
- The OWSD WISDOM scholarships are offered to refugee women candidates pursuing master’s degrees in the natural, engineering, information, and technology sciences (STEM fields). Candidates must:
- be a holder of a valid refugee status (Temporary Protection, International Protection or International Protection Application Certificate)
- hold a bachelor’s degree from an academic and/or research institution (including international research centers)
- be in Türkiye at the time of application
