Deadline: 15 July 2024
Jiser presents a new edition of the creative residencies aimed at young visual artists and cultural agents established in Spain, Tunisia and Algeria.
Six young artists from these three territories and three local cultural agents will be selected, who will be called mediators and will be in charge of mediating and coordinating the public programme.
To enable the artists to develop a personal artistic project in a collective working environment, each of them will spend two months researching and experimenting with the visual arts in one of the selected cities Sousse (October – December 2024), Barcelona (January – February 2025) and Algiers (April – June 2025) where they will be accompanied by the curator appointed for this edition, as well as by a local mediator.
These residencies are a tool for artists and cultural mediators. In this sense, Jiser reaffirms its willingness to support young artists who develop in the artistic and cultural contexts of these territories.
In this edition, they have the collaboration of Galerie ElBirou in Sousse, Hangar in Barcelona and Box24 and La Chambre Claire in Algeria, and the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Ajuntament de Barcelona, the Diputació de Barcelona, the Institut Ramon Llull, the Embassy of Spain in Algeria and the Instituto Cervantes in Algiers.
