Deadline: 15 July 2024
The IG Rote Fabrik is pleased to announce the Artists in Residence Project geared toward professional artists from abroad who exhibit high artistic and professional quality in the fields of visual arts, dance, theatre, music or film.
IG Rote Fabrik is allocating a work studio in Switzerland to a professional, foreign artist for a period of 3 months at the end of 2024. They will be provided with a generous studio space, apartment, artistic environment and general support. With this Artists in Residency program they encourage intercultural exchange in the fields of visual arts, dance, theatre, music, film, literature etc. They want to offer an artist the opportunity to gather refreshing impressions while immersing themselves in a new environment, extend their network and develop their artistic practice. The artist is free to spend their time as they see fit (e.g. research, artistic exchange, developing and producing new work etc.). At the end of the stay the public will be invited to an open studio, during which the artist can present their work in a fitting format of their choosing.
Benefits
- The project offers the following opportunities and services:
- Integration within a cultural center
- Regular exchange with other local artists, cultural workers and studio users at Rote Fabrik
- The support of a person in charge, appointed by IG Rote Fabrik
- A working environment in which one feels secure and challenged, due to the presence of many other artists and cultural workers
- Appropriate infrastructure as agreed upon and according to availability
- Press and public relations work
- Opportunities to present work in the work studio in Rote Fabrik
- Accommodation in the city of Zurich
- In addition to the accommodation they will fund the travel expenses, insurance costs and will provide a monthly allowance and production budget.
Duration
- For the period from October 01, 2024 up to and including December 2024, they are looking for an artist who would like to work on the topic of collectivities.
Eligibility Criteria
- Artists applying for a residency must have proficient language skills (English or German). Due to financial resources, IG Rote Fabrik can unfortunately only accept applications from artists from Europe in 2024.
- The residence program is designed for one person only. Due to limited space and resources, which are not suitable for an artist collective, they unfortunately cannot consider group applications in the selection process.
- Artists who have already been guests in this program within the last two years are not eligible to apply.
